A deep umber ground with an olive undercurrent, worked in a dense low weave with faint block striations shifting across the field. It grounds a room and reads almost solid from a distance, resolving into quiet horizontal movement up close — a dark floor that stays warm rather than heavy.

Hand-knotted in 100% natural wool. The surface is built from short horizontal striations in closely graded dark tones, so the blockwork emerges through texture and the play of light rather than any printed pattern. Specialist-washed for a soft hand and tonal depth — the umber moves between olive, walnut-brown and a near-charcoal shadow as the light changes. Low, dense and substantial underfoot, made for years of real use.
